The US Navy is refusing to allow an American serviceman to take photos with the two USS Bonhamme Richard aircraft carriers as part a US-Japan Maritime Safety Alliance (JMSA) event celebrating the 50th anniversary of the two warships’ arrival in Manila Bay, Japanese media reported.
The USS Bonhoeffer (DD-421) and the USS John Franklin (CV-68) are scheduled to arrive at Manila Bay on Sunday, April 30.
The JMSA event has been organized by Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan Maritime Safety Organization, and the United States Navy.
It is being held in Yokota, Japan, a popular tourist destination with a thriving tourism industry.
The Japanese newspaper Asahi Shimbun reported that the Japanese government said on Monday that it has not decided whether or not to allow the two aircraft carriers to be photographed.
